Under the supervision of the Real Estate Director and Toronto Director of Operations, the Real Estate Assistant Director, Ontario will manage real estate development projects and oversee maintenance of all real estate assets for the Ontario region. The position involves participation in the development of the corporation’s real estate footprint in the region, the management of all operational aspects of the region’s portfolio, and the administration and financial management of the real estate function.

Principal tasks :
Real estate development

  • Participation in all phases of real estate development including site recommendation, planning, construction management, and initial set up
  • Plan and provide oversight for major repair and capital improvements to existing real estate assets
  • Participate in development of the scope of work and financial planning for new sites or major renovations, including day to day construction management of such projects
  • Track all spending and ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the region’s real estate portfolio
  • Conduct quarterly physical property inspections
  • Work closely with the regional directors to review, assess and make recommendation about execution of regular maintenance; •Optimize internal and external resources required for the operation and maintenance of all facilities
  • Communicate regularly with other team members, sharing and implementing best practices throughout the network.
General responsibilities
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with internal clients, external consultants, and suppliers
  • Participate in the annual review of the corporation’s business/strategic plan. Provide input and feedback as appropriate
  • Assist in the development of the annual operation plan and budget, and performance outcomes
  • Manage and track operational budgets for the region
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Real Estate Director in her/his absence.
  • University degree with a major in Real estate Management (an asset). Relevant certification would be an asset
  • Three years in real estate development, new construction, rehabilitation of existing facilities preferably in industrial and/or commercial sectors
  • Comprehensive understanding of property management, leases management and its financial aspects
  • Project management experience with knowledge of the industrial / commercial building systems and municipal procedures, including design issues and construction materials and methods
Autonomous and self-motivated, candidates should have:
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work under tight deadlines, manage priorities
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Interpersonal savvy with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong competency in MS office and relevant databases and software
  • Bilingualism a strong asset.
